Staff Recommendation

• Amend the Code to decrease the interest rate on delinquent taxes

• Index the rate to a relevant market interest rate (ie- the Prime Rate)

• Allow the interest rate to reset each year

  • Allows for consistency with changes in market interest
  • Generally consistent with current Code proivisions for delinquent water bills
