Why do some streets get plowed 3 or 4 times, but others only once? Our first priority is to keep streets open with the highest traffic volume. This serves the most people and also opens up the main lines for emergency equipment. If snow is over 6-8”, all streets will be plowed at least once.

Why were some plows traveling with their plows up? If the streets are just ice, the plows are not able to break through it. Another reason is that with the high volume of snow, we could not always push it; we would lift it up in a pile.

I never saw anyone plow my street. Our goal was to plow every street. It may have been plowed during the night and then got covered up again. Or it may have been missed due to the need to use our newest employees who are not familiar with the City.

Why don’t we have snow blowers and a grader? Storms of this magnitude and frequency are rare. Budget dollars are spent where the most can be gained overall.
